The third Wagashi Workshop “Early Summer Wagashi” May 22, 2021

On Saturday, May 22, 2021, we held the third Japanese sweets-making workshop remotely. The instructor was Ms. Nobue Kodama of the Zenshuji chadobu, who also taught the last events. Twenty-two people participated.

At 10 o’clock, the Chief of Administration, Mme. Robinson expressed her appreciation to Ms. Kodama and the participants on her opening remarks. Then the session was started with Ms. Kodama’s exclamation of “let’s make early summer wagashi with uiro dough.”
The lesson difficulty got higher than before (making uiro dough is a little bit tricky), but the lecturer explained clearly in both Japanese and English with added notes of humor. The participants were all more than ready to learn. The workshop progressed rhythmically.
Everyone created their translucent wagashi in the shape of iris and/or clematis, the motif of the early summer using the uiro dough and yellow bean paste.
The event was success.
