LITTLE TOKYO SPARKLEMay 20, 2023
On Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm, Little Tokyo celebrated Nancy Kikuchi Volunteer Day with a neighborhood-wide community clean up day!
Armed with brooms, trash bags, shovels and graffiti remover, members of the Urasenke Tankokai Los Angeles Association participated with other organizations to clean up Little Tokyo and continue the process of building our community.
Led by Team Leader Mark Umbriaco, Patrick Duffey, Shinichiro Wakayama, Yasmin Elming and Ann Abe were assigned, with other volunteers, the north block between Hompa Hongwanji Buddhist Temple (Nishi Betsuin) and the Japanese American National Museum.
Matching hachimaki’s, a sandwich lunch and dessert were given to all volunteers. A raffle followed with Yasmin winning a bottle of sake!
A good time was had by all for a very worthy cause.
