On Sunday, March 25, 2018, Rikyuki, the memorial tea ceremony to commemorate Rikyu, was conducted by Urasenke Tankokai Los Angeles Association at Nichiren Temple. Over 60 people attended the ceremony to pay respect for the great tea master.
During the ceremony, many flowers were offered and a bowl of tea was also offered for Rikyu. When the bowl of tea was placed in front of the painting of Rikyu, everyone put hands together and bowed. The tea practitioners pledged to continue their practice. The program also included Koicha-tsuki-kagetsu by five male students. It is one of the exercises formulated for Chado training. At the end of the program, all participants enjoyed sweets and a bowl of tea with gratitude.
