NORTH AMERICA TRAVELING INTENSIVE SEMINARAugust 20-23, 2026NICHIREN BETSUIN BUDDHIST TEMPLE NERIO HALL
A four-day intensive seminar was held from August 20–23, 2026, at Nichiren Betsuin Buddhist Temple’s Nerio Hall. A total of 119 members of the Urasenke Tankokai Los Angeles Association participated, along with members from the Orange County, San Diego, and Arizona Associations.
It had been 13 years since a Gyotei sensei had last visited Los Angeles to provide guidance and instruction to our members. Sokei Suzuki Gyotei sensei, who was sent by Urasenke Japan and is currently stationed in New York, provided in-depth instruction throughout the seminar.
The first day was dedicated to instructors, with the goal of providing them with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach their own students. The second day focused on procedures for beginners, with an emphasis on developing fundamental techniques. The third day was designed for intermediate students, while the final day was for advanced students. Each day’s instruction was carefully tailored to the skill level of the participants.
Members were deeply grateful for the opportunity to study with Gyotei sensei and greatly appreciated his thoughtful, detailed, and thought-provoking instruction. The seminar was an invaluable experience that encouraged all participants to continue their practice with renewed dedication.
