Nisei Week Chado DemonstrationJapanese American Cultural & Community Center – JACCCAugust 10 (SAT) and 11 (SUN), 2019
On August 10th and 11th, Urasenke Tankokai held Tea Ceremony Demonstrations as one of Nisei Week Festival activities at the Japanese American Cultural Community Center (JACCC) in Little Tokyo. There were more than 300 visitors who were interested in the art of Tea. Not only adults, but children as well. Because of the interest, a total of 14 Tea Ceremony Demonstrations were performed between 11 AM to 4 PM on both days. Tea and sweets were served after each demonstration.
Despite their busy schedule, Nisei queens visited the Tea Ceremony event room. Their presence made the Tea Ceremony event room special.
The Tea room was decorated with a summer seasonal scroll “Taki” which means waterfalls, seasonal flowers in a basket and “Hotaru” which means firefly, an incense container.
It was a huge success.
