On May 31, 2025, Urasenke Tankokai Los Angeles Association held a tea ceremony demonstration as part of its 4th fundraising “Koreisha” Bazaar at the Seinan Senior Center.

Honored guests included Consul General Sone and his wife, who enjoyed tea with attendees supporting the center.

Seasonal flower arrangements complemented a “Kissako” scroll. “Kissako” is a Zen expression that means “Have a cup of tea”. The utensils—such as a chokudai (a theme for the imperial New Year’s poetry reading) tea bowl, a lacquer tea container with spring-autumn design, and a tea scoop named “Satsuki” (May) crafted by Taigen Rōshi—reflected the early summer theme.

Hosts Shu Colleen and Lu Lou from the Ishizuka shachu alternated roles.
