On January 7, 2025, the Urasenke Tankokai Los Angeles Association was part of the “Masters of Carpentry: Melding Forest Skill and Spirit” exhibition at Japan House. Visitors were invited to experience Chado in front of a full-scale reproduction of the historic “Sa-an” teahouse.

Soshin Robinson and her students performed misonodana and explained the history and procedure to the guests.

New year motif utensils were used to highlight the season. A tanzaku with the saying, “Wakamatsu (Gasan) & Sen Nen No Midori ~1000 years of green pine~, by Seibu bunjyo Roshi was displayed along with seasonal flowers. A beautiful mizusashi with plum blossoms and bamboo was used.

Guests were treated to tea with a camelia shaped sweet, called, “Hime Tsubaki”.
